Regarding the postponement of the 17th International Edvard Grieg Piano Competition


Q: When will the postponed competition take place?

A: Friday 17 to Saturday 25 September 2021, see schedule. The application deadline is 20 April 2021 at 23:59 CEST. The application portal will be re-opened Autumn 2020.


Q: Is the application deadline still 20 April 2020? / When is the new deadline for application?

A: Updated application deadline is 20 April 2021.


Q: Will there be changes to the repertoire for the postponed competition?

A: No, you may prepare the exact same repertoire for the pre-qualification video, the first round, the second round, the semi-final and the final.


Q: I was born in 1987. May I still apply, even if the competition is postponed to another year?

A: Yes, we will be making an exception for the 17th competition: Every applyant who was eligible for the 2020-competition, will be eligible to apply.


Q: I was born in 2004. Since the competition is postponed to 2021, may I apply?

A: Yes, everyone born between 1987 - 2004 will be able to apply and participate.


Q: I have already recorded my video and was planning to send it before the application date 20 April 2020. Do I have to make a new recording for the postponed competition?

A: No, we will accept all videos which were eligible for the 2020-competition. Updated application deadline: 20 April 2021.


Q: I already started writing my online application. May I continue when the application portal opens again?

A: Yes, your application data is stored and will be accessible when the portal reopens Autumn 2020.


Q: I had prepared so well for this competition! What can I do in the mean time while waiting for the postponed Grieg Competition?
